The exhibition Transforming Lines explores the use of the ‘drawn’ line in contemporary art. The intention is to give insight into a variety and possibilities of what drawing may become in artistic practice. The line may reveal itself in different forms – as an embodiment of motion and time, a reflection on space, a ‘found’ line, or an element that either separates or connects things. While easily comprehended as drawing on classical surfaces, such as paper, drawing can have many other manifestations in objects, painting, photography, and moving images. Thus, drawing reveals itself as a creative process, an important foundation for artistic practice, still valid today, as well as being an autonomous discipline.
