BERLINER SALON

Sunday, 1 March 2026

Peninsula is an interdisciplinary platform and a fertile ground for dialogue and critical exchange on the contemporary. Berliner Salon represents its human-scale iteration: a domestic and replicable format in which the artwork is not a pretext, but a device that sets conversation in motion and puts art to work in the present, bringing forth frictions, desires, memories, conflicts, and possibili-ties.

The home becomes the space in which this exchange takes shape, balanced between intimacy and the public sphere. Each gathering, hosted each time by a different person, begins with an artwork presented within the space that receives it, not to introduce a theme in a didactic manner, but to create the conditions for a more attentive gaze and a more precise articulation of thought. The Salon works with slow time and proximity. It reduces the distance between those who look and those who make, between listening and speaking, between experience and interpretation. It considers conviviality an integral part of the dispositif, as the shared brunch is not merely a social moment, but a structure that alters the quality of dialogue, making it less automatic, more situated, more concrete.

Berliner Salon is conceived as an ongoing practice. It does not seek a single conclusion, but rather builds over time a way of speaking about art that is clear and shareable, maintaining an intentionally manageable group through the parti- cipation of Peninsula members, who confirm their attendance from time to time and may bring one or more guests, including international participants, in order to keep the dialogue open and plural. Likewise, anyone may propose to host a gathering or present an artwork, ensuring that the format remains truly shared, capable of shifting, changing perspective, and renewing itself each time.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

A multifaceted creative, Stefano Alaimo is an independent designer and part-time IT manager. In the artistic field, his creative approach is not dictated by technique but by a precise emotion that the artist wishes to evoke in the viewer.

Thus, depending on how much Wonder, Laughter, Melancholy, Lightness, Guilt, Anger, Magnanimity, Forgiveness, Introspection, etc., demand in terms of drawing, video, animation, manipulable objects, situations, text, interactive images, sewing, woodworking, graphic design, or coding—individually or in combination—the hand will obey the commands of the desired emotion.

Stefano’s aesthetic exploration, though nourished by studies in graphic design in Paris, as well as numerous travels and long stays in various countries, began in his childhood and remains deeply marked by his mixed origins—an interweaving of 1960s Rome, an unknown French island lost in the Indian Ocean, and the remnants of a former African colony. The result is a sense of Beauty that blends the Italian classical taste with the refined Franco-Colonial-Indo-Oceanic aesthetic, and, naturally, as a child of the 1980s, the classical and mass iconographies of both Western and Asian cultures.
