SPECTRUM

An installation by Cristiano Cesolari in collaboration with Enzo Pietropaolo.

Along its existence on Earth, humankind generated waves that propagated through spacetime resulting in a signal traveling at the speed of light, throughout the universe.

The limitations of the human eye stop his travel into infinity relatively soon. That’s the reason why we developed artificial eyes and ears, that can reach deeper into the unknown; special tools that can investigate what’s out there, perceiving the vibrations of the energy that reaches us. Material, light, and movements, all of them generate waves that allow us to understand what is vibrating inside the universe.

It is through the spectrogram that we can see what cannot be perceived through the human senses.
“Spectrum” is an ideal place, somewhere in the universe, that lets us have a taste of the signals we propagate into spacetime. It encodes human beings into signals, then it will let us listen to and feel what might arrive somewhere else in the universe, trying to give us a sense of how complex (and apparently senseless) our vibration is.
