Are we certain that the Unsichtbar (/invisible) cannot be seen? That what is hidden in the interstitial spaces of reality is imperceptible to our emotional intelligence and sentient conscience? It is precisely within these interstices of seeing that the work of art is hidden and simultaneously revealed.

Are We Human?

The title is inspired by George Orwell's groundbreaking novel "1984", first published in 1949. At the time of writing, shortly after the end of WWII, Orwell was one of the few visionaries looking at the future as being a time much darker than anything that came before. The complex plot of the book constructs and explores a dystopian world, where society is controlled by the elusive Big Brother and oppressed using propaganda to empty the population of their humanity. History is altered to support a constructed reality.

Landing Pages

The group exhibition “LANDING PAGES – Andere Wege der photographischen Narration” presents international artists with new conceptual approaches to place and narrative. Most artists shown here start from biographical threads in their search for materials and traces that extend beyond the very experience of place: archive images, texts, films, interviews and objects that generate narrative strands which condense into complex, multi-perspectival assemblages. These, in turn, become individual world images (Individuelle Weltbilder).
